Tiga (Jean-Claude Garroute), together with a few enthusiastic young artists, sets the principles of a new esthetic, in the middle of the 1960’s and under the name ‘Nouvelle Ecole d’Art Moderne ». This first community step is crowned at the Festival of Negro Arts in Dakar (Senegal) in 1966. Tiga is in charge of the decoration in the Haitian Pavillion and he meets there for the first time André Malraux, then Minister of Culture in France. In 1968, he creates a Cultural Center in Port-au-Prince.
